RTU
Remote Telemetry Unit (based on ENEL specification and certified at TUV lab) for detecting the section of electrical line where a fault has occurred.
The CPU board contains a 32-bit ColdFire microcontroller by Freescale (IDE: CodeWarrior) that interfaces with various peripherals (Analog-to-Digital Converter and Real-Time Clock via SPI, EEPROM via I2C bus, USB via UART converter, etc.)
The application firmware (upgradeable either locally or from remote) makes use of a prioprietary real-time co-operative scheduler and handles acquisition of signals from the field, local automation logics, communication with the control center (via GSM modem and IEC60870-5-101 protocol), commands to the actuators (e.g. circuit breakers), communication with a PC (Windows application for configuring the device, reading the sequence of events, etc.)
