Protection & control unit for electric grids
Protection and control device (based on Endesa specification and certified at TUV lab) for electric grids.
The CPU board contains a 32-bit ColdFire microcontroller by Freescale (IDE: CodeWarrior) that interfaces with numerous peripherals (Real-Time Clock and digital I/O via SPI, EEPROM via I2C, three RS232/RS485 serial ports, Ethernet, USB, SDRAM, etc.).
The application firmware (upgradeable in the field) uses the MQX real-time operating system and handles data acquisition from the field (e.g. electrical signals), signal filtering and processing (computation of twenty-eight RMS values by means of the Fourier transform), protection logics, event recording, MMI (push-buttons and LED's), communication with a PC (Windows application for configuring the device, reading measurements, etc.) and with an RTU (Remote Telemetry Unit) via Modbus protocol.
